Thank You
Thanks again to everyone who came out to the Tune-Out last night; I was so moved to have so many kind folks interested in hearing the new songs I’ve been working on. I’ll never forget it. Thanks to John Vettese for the kick in the pants to write 6 jams in a month. This feels like a great beginning to 2013, I’m excited for the things to come. Those who couldn’t stay for the film La Strada (and anyone who hasn’t seen it), go see it!!

(charcoal drawing I made specifically for the show.)

Thanks again, everyone. More Europe tour dates to come!

Musicians on Pop Culture: Frances Quinlan (Hop Along) In typical Musicians on Pop Culture fashion, Frances Quinlan of the band Hop Along was kind enough to tell us what she’s been reading and/or watching these days. You can check out Hop Along over at their Bandcamp or Facebook.
Based on Nothing: What are you currently reading or watching…For more click here: http://gd.is/nhvHZALooking for some new reading? I made a couple suggestions, and also admitted to watching a show that I’ve admitted to watching (often without people even asking me) way too many times.

upcoming shows (+ folks who gave us their addresses for records!!)
Hey all,
Today is moving day for me, got myself a new spot in North Philly with some good friends, and am finally putting in some furniture today. I haven’t updated on some things so I wanted to get that done before home life gets busy again.
First off, I’m psyched to announce that we’re playing 3 shows with Bomb the Music Industry! the week of Thanksgiving!! Here they are:
Nov 23 - New Haven, CT - Toad’s Place @ Lily’s Pad w/ Bomb the Music Industry
Nov 24 - Hoboken, NJ - Maxwell’s w/ Bomb the Music Industry
Nov 25 - Washington, DC - Black Cat w/ Bomb the Music Industry
**Also pumped to announce we will be playing these shows as a 5 piece (with Joe and Pete from Algernon Cadwallader!!). It’s not too often we get to perform with these rad dudes, so make your way out to one of these shows!
Also, I wanted to let folks who wrote their addresses know that pressing should be occuring Nov 15, and will get to us very soon after, which we will ship right away. Thank you so much for supporting us on tour after we ran out of vinyl, and we apologize for the wait. But know that we are on it, you are not forgotten!!

Holy wow
Hey all,
Tour ain’t over yet but I feel compelled to discuss a couple things, now that Fest is over and the hotel lobby is quiet. It’s just me and the staff and Shania Twain on the overhead radio.
Holy shit, has this all been a surprise.
Yesterday we loaded in, soundchecked, and started our set at 3:50, and it felt really good. We’d been preparing for this tour to Gainesville for months, and we’d made it. No van fires, only 2 cancelled shows, and so much fun along the way. We made it to Fest, and people and good friends were there, and I couldn’t ask for more. We’d barely started when I saw there were people crowded at the window, singing along with us. I was so happy, I felt right where I needed to be (thank you so much, window people). I knew I was going to remember this show, especially after we finished…
The room was about half-full when we finished, and I was down with that. It was our very first time playing the Fest, and we played first, and I was happy that we did that well early in the day. Then a friend told me there was a line of people going around the block, who were trying to see us play..
HOLY SHIT.
While I feel very bad for the folks that should have been able to get in, as the room wasn’t filled, I also feel so fucking moved that people cared that much to see us. Seriously, HOLY SHIT. We’ve had amazing surprises all along this tour, for some of which we really were not prepared (running out of records in LA, for example…), but this is the craziest one I’ve ever experienced.
We tried to make it up to the people who couldn’t see our set, by playing a second show later at Spannk. It was during some very popular bands, I figured a handful of people would come to the second set. We played to a nearly-filled room, and again I was surprised in the best way possible. We played two older songs, and had a blast. I’d also only eaten breakfast around 9:30 am, and it was now 8 pm, and I felt insane. It’s cool though, I just ended up being the weirdo crunching on baby carrots during Fake Problems’ set.
Later I nearly fell asleep on a pile of Joyce Manor shirts, and ate two slices of pizza in the span of 45 seconds. Perfect day.
Thank you so much guys. Thank you Fest 11. We will never forget our first time.
Now, onto Atlanta.
LOVE,
Frances
